Effective date: April 3, 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how Somatelligence (“Somatelligence,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a body-based nervous-system recovery studio owned and operated by Sachi Berg in Oceanside, California, collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website (the “Site”), contact us, sign up for our emails or texts, or work with us as a client. It also explains the choices you have about your information.
We keep this policy in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, reach out using the contact details at the bottom and we’ll walk you through it. This policy works alongside our Terms and Conditions.
Somatelligence offers trauma-informed, body-based nervous-system recovery work, in person and virtually — somatic facilitation, biodynamic craniosacral work, sound and frequency work, and Reiki. Our work complements, but does not replace, medical or mental health care.
We are a private-pay practice. We do not bill health insurance or submit insurance claims, which means we are not a “covered entity” under HIPAA. Even so, what you share with us about your body, your history, and your wellbeing is sensitive, and we treat it as confidential. The section on health and intake information explains how.
Information you give us directly. This includes information you provide when you:
Depending on what you do, this may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing or billing details, the services you’re interested in, scheduling preferences, your typed signature on an agreement, and the intake and health information described below.
Payment information. Payments are processed by our third-party booking and payment providers — for example, Acuity Scheduling and its payment processor, or Venmo. We receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction details, but we do not collect or store full card numbers ourselves.
Photos and recordings at events. Classes and events may be photographed or recorded, as described in the event waiver you sign when you register. Private sessions are never recorded.
Information collected automatically on the Site. Like most websites, our Site collects certain technical information through cookies and similar technologies, which may include your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website, and general location such as city or region. See Cookies and analytics below.
Information from third-party platforms. If you reach us through a platform like ClassPass, Eventbrite, Facebook Events, Instagram, or Substack, we may receive information from those services according to their own privacy policies and your settings on them.
To work with you safely, we ask about things like your history of stress, injury, surgery, and trauma; current symptoms and medications; pregnancy; implanted medical devices; nervous system patterns; and your goals for the work. This is sensitive personal information, and California law gives health-related information heightened protection.
Here’s how we handle it:
You are always in control of how much you share. If there’s something you’d rather not disclose, tell us, and we’ll work with what feels right to you.
We use the information we collect to:
Our Site uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site working, remember your preferences, understand how the Site is used, and — where you’ve allowed it — support our marketing.
We may use analytics and advertising tools such as Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) pixel to understand Site traffic and the reach of our content. These tools may set their own cookies and collect information about your activity on our Site over time.
You can choose which cookies you accept through the cookie banner on our Site, and change your choice at any time through its Preferences option. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, and opt out of certain tracking through tools those providers offer, such as Google’s analytics opt-out and Meta’s ad-preference settings.
We honor browser-based Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required. Because there is no common standard for “Do Not Track” browser signals, our Site does not currently respond to them.
If you sign up for our newsletter or updates, we’ll send you emails through our email provider — for example, Klaviyo or Substack. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
We also email clients directly about bookings, programs, and questions they’ve asked.
If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts, we’ll text you about scheduling, appointment reminders, and your sessions — and, if you’ve separately opted in, updates and offers. Our texts are sent through our messaging provider, Twilio.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We share information only in these limited ways:
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, and we work with reputable providers who maintain their own security measures. Access to client records is limited to the people who need it to serve you. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security — but we take protecting your information seriously, especially anything you share about your health and history.
We keep your information for as long as needed to provide our services, maintain reasonable business and client records — including the agreements you sign — and meet legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations. When we no longer need it, we take steps to delete it or remove what identifies you. If you’d like us to delete your information sooner, see Your rights and choices below.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. California residents, under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (CCPA/CPRA), may have the right to:
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We’ll verify your request — usually by confirming details we already have on file — before acting on it, to protect your privacy. You may also use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We’ll respond within the timeframes the law requires.
If you’re outside the United States, please note our studio is based in California and your information is processed in the U.S. By using our Site or services, you understand your information will be handled under U.S. and California law.
Our Site is intended for adults. We provide services to minors only with the written consent of a parent or legal guardian, given on our Parent / Guardian Consent form before the first session. The parent or guardian provides the minor’s information and may review, correct, or ask us to delete it at any time.
We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent or guardian’s consent, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
Our Site and content may link to other websites and platforms — for example, our scheduling tools, Tally, ClassPass, Eventbrite, Instagram, or Substack. We’re not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the effective date at the top. If we make significant changes, we’ll take reasonable steps to let you know. Your continued use of the Site or our services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
